Kendal residents do not sit around. They are quite busy! Their activities are both on- and off-campus.

Below is a sampling of their involvement. In addition, residents contribute almost 2,500 volunteer hours to service activities every month!

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: walking, yoga, fitness classes, stationary bike, Pilates, swimming, water classes, golf, gardening, aerobic exercise

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES: visiting the Kendal Pub, house parties, Elder Quest, luncheon groups, picnics, Meet & Greet, breakfast groups, family gatherings

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES: hiking, birding, biking, bocce ball

DRAMATIC/MUSICAL: choir, piano, church music, singing

READING ACTIVITIES: reading for pleasure, library, newspapers, book clubs

GAME ACTIVITIES: puzzles, chess, scrabble, Wii bowling, cards (bridge, euchre, etc.), word games, dominoes, The New York Times Crossword, jigsaws, computer games

WRITING ACTIVITIES; articles for independent magazines/journals, personal writing, blog, songs, KAG newsletter, memoirs, books, copy editors, poetry, articles for an independent newsletter

COLLECTING/HOBBIES: amateur radio, scrap booking, Longaberger baskets, genealogy, family history, cookbooks

LEADERSHIP ROLES: residents are an important part of every committee at Kendal, treasurer of group, volunteer for Girl Scouts, hold offices in Rotary, president of retired teachers’ group, communications chair of an international teachers’ group

SHARING/TEACHING: presentations at Columbus Library, teaching others the skill of making a drink, tutoring students, teaching writing, teaching computer skills, mentoring students, teaching ceramics, teaching printmaking, teaching how to create a website, teaching how to use Google Suites

CONTINUING EDUCATION: photography, LCCC, online technology classes, speaker’s series, Bible studies, Denison University classes, Monday Talks, Udemy classes, Coursera, Lynda, Ohio State University-Newark

LEARNING NEW SKILLS: technology, genealogy, painting, knitting, woodworking
