Veterans Day is observed at Kendal at GranvilleBy Resident Tom Gallant —

Members of the Granville American Legion Post 398, in cooperation with Peggy Qualls, Sales and Community Relations Manager at Kendal at Granville, sponsored a Veterans Day observance Monday, Nov. 12, in Kendal’s Amelia Gathering Room. The observance was attended by eight Legion members and about 40 Kendal residents.

The program opened with an invocation by Peggy and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Dr. John Adams of the Post. Dr. Adams read a piece written in 1969 by comedian Red Skelton, which focused on the meaning of each word of the Pledge.

Residents in attendance were invited to comment on their own past military experiences during recent wars. This invitation was taken up eagerly by many veterans and other residents who recounted their experiences during World War II and the Korean War.

Following the program, refreshments were available and participants had an opportunity to mingle and socialize and share additional insights with each other.
